Don Merrill's interest in Waverly NY history is looking to the future.

The Waverly Historical Society was formed in 2015 and recieved a New York State Not-for-Profit designation. At the same time Don Merrill restored the building on Chemung Street in Waverly NY and moved his personal Waverly historic collection to this location. Our hope to open as a Museum in which the public can view and experience the rich history of Waverly NY with a strong focus on the 1800's & early 1900's has now happened thanks to your donations!

The Waverly Historical Society is a 501(c)3 corporation. Our mission is to create a lasting museum dedicated to preserving and displaying historical items and events from Waverly and surrounding areas.

The society has been awarded a $26,000 grant, dependent upon being able to match that amount. We are very happy to say that, due to the support of the valley community and support of those who have moved away from the valley area and continue to have an interest in Waverly's history, we have matched that amount. We thank you all for your financial support with helping us reach that match.

Financial support remains critical to our ongoing operations in this endeavor. We are concentrating on obtaining as many donations as possible to keep the museum open to the public. Your tax deductible donation toward this goal would be greatly appreciated.
